Glove and PPE washing service providers Staysafe PPE have been awarded with a certificate and trophy from The Rural Business Awards Midlands for “Best Rural Innovation” earlier this month. As regional winners, the firm has also been put forward for the National title. In addition, the company has also won the Green Apple Environmental award and will be taking a trip to the House of Lords in November to collect it.

Denise Brinton, Founder and Director of Staysafe PPE said:

“The awards mean we can generate more awareness about PPE being thrown away unnecessarily and its impact on the environment. I calculated that we have saved 96 tonnes of PPE from landfill since we started in 2016. We have signed up to the net zero pledge and want to encourage all companies to do the same with our help.”

As the world looks to manufacturers to help the journey to net-zero by 2050, services like Staysafe PPE are receiving the attention they deserve now more than ever. Staysafe PPE Ltd was founded in 2016 to deliver cost savings for local businesses by washing and returning PPE for re-use and is the only waste management streaming company to save money. The company is still focused on supporting the local economy and providing much needed rural employment, and now operates nationwide. As the UK leader in PPE recycling,

Staysafe PPE has signed up to the Net Zero pledge and is working with end users, distributors, and manufacturers alike to reduce landfill, cut carbon emissions and protect our environment. Almost a million items, some 954 tonnes of PPE, were saved from unnecessary destruction last year.

The Rural Business Awards 2021/2022, in partnership with Amazon, will mark the Awards’ seventh year of celebrating the success of businesses across the UK’s rural economy. The Awards are organised by rural businesses for rural business with the aim of celebrating the achievements of rural businesses and developing a strong network for rural business owners. Denise added:

“We are thrilled to be given this prestigious award which recognizes the contribution we are making to the local economy and the wider environment.  By reducing unnecessary destruction of PPE, we are also reducing carbon footprints, CO2 emissions, and addressing supply chain issues as virtually all PPE is imported from the Far East. Savings for our customers are as much as 70% on new PPE spend’.

The Awards are organised by rural business for rural business, with winners in the 13 categories - ranging from Best Rural Start Up and Best Rural Diversification Project; through to Best Rural Professional Services Business and Best Rural Innovation - decided by an independent panel of judges drawn from the rural business sector, rural public sector agencies, and rural charitable organisations.

The Rural Business Awards is hosting a series of regional finals in the North, East, Midlands, South West, Wales and Northern Ireland, throughout October 2021, ahead of the National Final next February. Stay tuned to find out more about StaySafe’s Green Apple Environment Award which is to be presented in November.
